Burglary and theft
Burglary and theft is a where somebody takes something without permission. Burglary is when an offender enters a building or part of a building without permission and steals something from it. Most people think of it as someone going into their house without permission and stealing their property.
A burglary is when the offender enters a building or part of a building as a trespasser intending to:
- Cause damage
- Inflict serious injury
- Commit theft
It doesn’t just happen in houses. Thefts from businesses, gardens, outbuildings, sheds and garages are also burglary.
